According to an article by MarketingSherpa, your email may be unreadable in up to 60% of inboxes due to image blocking and preview panes.
Great article, but it doesn’t really touch on all of the issues, for example, many designers like to use Cascading Style Sheets (CSS), because, after all, it’s becoming a standard in web design. But for email it’s pretty tricky — I use gmail as one of my personal accounts, and I get MANY emails that look pretty mangled.
While there are tricks and tips to get around CSS problems, it might be better to just forget about it, or if you’re really passionate about your CSS, you can always use them but also have inline styles as a backup.
