"It’s spelled ‘email’"

It’s official! The Email Experience Council has declared the spelling “email” to be a standard for the email marketing industry.

All I can say is “phew!” because that’s how I’ve been spelling it, and I believe it is the correct way to spell it - and I would have argued to the death if I had to! :)

The only obstacle I see in this is that the most widely used style guides (in media at least) is the Associated Press and for us Canadians, the Canadian Press, which both list email as “e-mail”. Hopefully the EEC can create enough buzz to get the style guys listening…
