Back-to-school shopping is big online
August 17th, 2007 by Carolyn Gardner
According to eMarketer, a just released study says that a third of students will do their back-to-school shopping online. Frankly, this comes as no surprise.
But what does surprise is me is how e-retailers who sell popular school supplies - especially things like notebooks, folders, pencils or backbacks - don’t come up with handy bundles for instant online consumption. As the mother of two girls heading back to school Sept 5, I would love this!
Don’t just give me the list of commonly needed school supplies and make me start shopping. Offer me a pre-filled cart featuring a bundle of items that I can say yay or nay to. Make sure to have a variety of carts that are catered to different grades too. Go a step further and offer me a few different choices before I check the pre-filled cart. Perhaps I want the best brands or the best prices?
To my knowledge this isn’t being done. Or is it?
